I am privileged to recommend him to you, not in my official capacity as a Southern Seminary employee, but as a good friend.

I came to-know Rob and his dear wife Bridget first by correspondence from England in summer of 2002, as he sought my international student advising counsel as a prospective student living and pastoring a church in the English coastal resort city of Brighton

When he and Bridget arrived for study in the fall of 2002, I observed his immediate passion to serve in ministry. He joined an SBC church in Louisville, emergent in form, urban, cutting-edge, but with and high estimation of biblical sound doctrine. (At least two of our seminary professors are members.)

I have heard him preach one memorable sermon there on the life of Abraham. He is an excellent expositor, and can talk street talk better than a rapper, or hip-hopper I think. At a nearby county jail where I regularly preached, he also preached an excellent, and animated gospel-centered message on the life of Jacob. He used some of the inmates as characters and even as props in the story – extremely well done. He loves the Lord and loves people.

I am surprised myself that I am multiple sentences into this recommendation and just now mention that he is also a passionate poet, with an extraordinary gift of expression.

Bridget is a thoughtful gentle person with much wisdom herself, and is a dear friend of my wife’s even though we have not visited with them as much as we’d like, owing much to distance and very busy schedules.

They are very gracious and eager hosts of couples and of fellowships/parties.
Doctrinally, I understand him to be sound and biblically knowledgable on the essential doctrines. I believe he is not a cessationist, but is open, with respect to the miraculous gifts of the Spirit. I may be wrong or outdated here, but he should be “open” to speak with you these things.

I know that they are happy in Bardstown (actually nearby area called Rooster Run), Kentucky where Bridget is overseeing a Crisis Pregnancy center, but I know Rob would flourish more in an urban environment, Well, I could go on, but I invite you to call me at home 502-634-0397 or my cell 502-558-2006.
