Now see here Robert good fellow … if you’d sent this little pearl through yesterday, I would have been able to use it in this week’s newsletter seeing as how our church is Pastor-hunting!! Were you listening to God when you sent this one today? Or do you think you missed a spot when it should have come to me earlier? Tsk, now I shall have to wait a fortnight to publish it. What a nuisance … you may have sent me a bigger pearl by then and the congregation will miss all this good advice. Rats! S.R.B.

Dear Robert: I know of more stories like that, sometimes it happens to people. So far nobody ever told me what is this meaning, however, it sounds as a message from God. How can I know that a message comes from God or just a dream? D.F.

You can never have enough of God`s Word mate! D.B.

I always enjoy getting the whispering word each day. someday, I breeze over I must admit, because of time, but other days, it catches me off guard and I just dwell on what is said. it always has something, I can think about that day. sometimes its convicting, sometimes, its funny (especially the British wit, which im still trying to adjust too) sometimes, it actually stirs emotion in me, that says, hold it I don’t agree with that. but that isn’t bad, because it then makes me think through what was said and to grapple, with why I don’t agree with what Robert has written. sometimes, after thinking thru it with other eyes, I come to the same conclusion, and sometimes, I decide, you know Roberts a rabble rouser and he is just trying to get me upset today, and he did. that’s good. sometimes we get too comfortable, with what we believe and just take it for granted when sometimes it is just because its what others believe and its easier to adopt someone else’s belief than to seek Gods wisdom and leading in having our own beliefs. thanks Robert for challenging me, and also giving me a laugh some days that is needed.
P.G.M.
216. February 17th
Our small group met last night. I hope you don’t mind, but I shared how much I’ve enjoyed your daily devotionals. I gave them the website so you may be hearing from them. I’m also sending it to my sister in California…she lives in a small town in the mountains and while a believer, does not attend church. I know this will be a blessing to her too. 129 September 13th
OUCH,Thanks for letting us see our lack of humanity.
We put on our blinders as we run from one activity to another and the words of God are not in our hearts.
Thanks for saying what needs to be said, I have noticed that it’s rare to hear the truth from the pulpit, most of the time it’s prosperity or grace. ( this only means the middle and upper class).Be bold, and keep on going. You have more people in Ky. praying for you then you know.
128 September 13th
I faithfully scan your WhisperingWords as often as I come down to my computer,… You are doing some fine pieces ..excellent. That was a touching story about Fred.

Dear Robert,I always read your daily message, …..it’s innovative, often interesting, challenging, …..it encourages me that you have adopted this method to reach the cyber-generation. B.C.
112. August 13th
Dear Robert,I have thoroughly enjoyed WFTW especially your down-to-earth attitude dealing with real issues involving your wonderful sense of humour. In addition to devotions I am able to spend some quality reflection time with the Lord at the work desk before I embark on the demands of the job. Helps put the day and its issues solidly into perspective. I am really greatful to have been added to your mailing list. Look forward to the next week.
Yours in Jesus, W.N.Zimbabwe
111 August 12th

103. August 11th 2004
Having something simply show up in front of me during my work day is a blessing…. it at least offers me the opportunity to re-focus on eternal matters, if only for a minute or two, rather than the temporal things that seem all so important in the moment. L.H.
102. August 9th
Thanks for your e-mail – and your regular “mailies/sermons”, I don’t know how you keep up such a high standard! J.H.
101. August 4th
I have been reading through your short sermonettes and find your thinking original and piercing. They bear more study than I can manage to give them. But even on quick reading they pack quite a wallop. E.A.

I think that was the best you have written so far.

47. May 4th 2004
Thank you for your devotions, pastor. They challenge me to think Biblically out of my box, my “orthoboxy” and improve my spirit. M.W.
46. May 4th 2004
I think it is very interesting and uplifting. My son has also been reading some of the ones that you send to the house. Keep the “words” coming. S.A.

I think your writing is
good: it is creative, fresh, illustrative, provocative, colorful, eloquent, relevant and rooted in truth. B.W.
44. May 4th 2004
I do enjoy your thoughts and am amazed how you keep them going and how they tie up with what is going on at the moment to say nothing of them being Biblically based. I sometimes sigh, smile, or have a good belly laugh and am often challenged by them. You must put them into a book and go to print – and make a fortune as a best Seller !!?? J.H.
43. May 4th
Basically I like them. E.H.
42. May 3rd
And I wondered how you were going to use a dead opossum and her babies for your commentary (let alone the girl driving around with her dead mother!). Wow. Powerful imagery comes through again. J.L
41. May 3rd 2004
Oh, my I look forward every day to the WFTW. I know I will get a brief and to the point message directly from God’s Word, the whole Bible. I know that it will be Scripturally sound and true. I like the format very much,
Key Word…..Title……Listen…..Pray….. Whether I am especially rushed or not, the entire devotional can be grasped quickly. Another interesting thing, to me, is that I can go back at a later time and still glean riches of truth and teaching from that day. The topics, I find are current with our times and needs….I will admit that sometimes to really get the point, I do have to dig a little deeper…..but then that is good for me. DW
40. April 29th 2004

32. April 4th, 2004
How wonderful! I have read many books on the subject of “God’s Creatures” and the stewardship humans need to extend to those creatures and the whole earth. Quite a few Protestant theologians have spoken out on this subject. JL
31. April 3rd, 2004
Robert??”true poetry, and so true. Ah, the “stillness” and the “silence” that is both pain and pleasure. JL

22. Thanks for your emails. You have a gift for writing and they really do encourage us RM
21. RIGHT ON BRO!!!! DI
20. What powerful words to begin the week with..PREACH THE WORD…D.W.
19. Good word. I love it when you make a point about scripture. I am reminded of something I read in The Ragamuffin Gospel — ever heard of it? Brennan Manning. He quotes somebody who talks about the men of the Reformation opening up 1500 year old bottles of new grace and being drunk on the word all over. ….. I wonder how many people need to get on their face and pray to God everyday? Do a lot of people do this? It would be so awesome if people just started going someplace, without an announcement, without fanfair, without speaking to each other, or preaching, and praying to God……..WK
18. Blessings, ….I might also add, “make me a new wineskin’ (so that I can contain the new wine!) A.M.
17. I’M ENJOYING YOUR FREQUENT E-MAIL DEVOTIONALS, AND WE ARE PRAYING FOR YOU (CG)
16. Thank you for keeping your lamp lit even if others are slacking. Its encouraging to see someone really trying to bring out the face of truth and make it speak “through” our postmodern distractions. Keep it up. (WK)
15. you are my new “Word for Today” – and far harder to ignore since you pop up in front of my eyes at roughly the same time each morning – keep up the Good Work (RG)
14. Just what I needed to hear today…..each days seems to be my favorite devotional. (DW)
13. I do enjoy your historic facts and quotations. The three word message from Daniel was another story I hadn’t heard. Thanks for your research. (JL)
12. Thanks for the wonderful mail, it was beautiful, remain blessed. (DT)
11. Congrats!… you’ve found a way to be both amusing and touching. I enjoy the words throughout the week, by the way. (EM)
10. These daily “Words for the Week” are well worthy of being available for future reference and special meditation…..have you considered putting them in a booklet form (hopefully, you are archiving them) Just a thought, because saving them in computer files or on cd is not always dependable and perhaps many who could be blessed by these precious gleanings from the Word may not, or ever, have computer access. As for me I would love to be able to give copies to my many neighbors here in this Senior Complex as well as share them with my church families. May the Lord continue to bless you as you use your many gifts of expounding the Word of God to His praise and glory. (DW)
9.AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (DI)
8. I loved the CS Lewis quote. Isn’t it true. And I liked where you went from it to relate to our own perspective of the PATH. (JL)
7. Just wanted to let you know I enjoy reading your words … You have a gift for putting them together and the Spirit speaks thru them. Thanks for all the hard work (DB)
6. Good stuff,! (CF)
5. I was encouraged by this one. and great illustration! (CR)
4. Keep on with the good work! (CG)
3. this is a great illustration, and truly what I needed to hear today…thanks (KY)
2. Thank you for these soul stirring words and sharing the special ceremony of affirming commitment to the Lord’s work. I have never seen this done in any congregation..just visualizing it has been an overwhelming spiritual and physical reminder of the price the Lord Jesus paid for our redemption (DW)
1. Be encouraged … I have found each of them to be hard-hitting and PERFECT. You only need to read the Word to understand that God is not a God of teddy bears and fluffy kittens. He is a God who was perfectly content to smite entire nations: the Amalakites, the Midianites and pretty much every other “ite”! God needs to be considered in this light, afterall, which parent sends their child to his death and then doesn’t intervene to prevent it? A God who loves enough to sacrifice all and have His heart broken, that’s who. And any person who does not know/understand/accept that God is a parent of loving discipline and who WILL cause us hurt and anger and embarrassment, only hides themselves in darkness and is exactly where Satan wants them to be – Deceptionville. ………. DO NOT alter your words .To do so would be to dilute God’s message and if he wanted a diluted message broadcast, he’d get Robinson’s to do it for him during Wimbledon week. I believe you will be disobedient if you alter your message to be one acceptable to the people. Since when did the prophets bring acceptable messages to the people they’d been sent to speak to? Your calling is to do God’s work, not the work of your fellow beings ……. If God is using you to prick consciences, then you’re doing the right job. You’re pricking mine and I ain’t even in America! – dilute your message and you dilute the church God has sent you to. You will not have a successful venture if you do not do God’s will. If you allow Satan to creep in, then you may as well open the door wide and invite him in with open arms. Do what God lays on your heart, and ask your faithful to pray for you that you hear God’s word and not any other. So far, I reckon you’re speaking God’s word. If it were any other, it would not be challenging my heart. It would just make me think it was nice words, kind of like those inspirational posters you get from Viking Direct. (SB)
